Media Night is the Dawson College Film Festival held in the Dawson Theater, for Cin/Vid/Com, every term to celebrate the talent of our students. All film genres are welcome from Documentary and Narrative to Experimental and Animation. We welcome any and all submissions and we fit as many as we can into the show. Note that there are always more submissions than time, so a priority is given to projects with shorter running times as that way more students' work gets exhibited.

Criteria for Submission

The creators (or the majority of them) must be Cin/Vid/Com students.
Priority is given to work done for a cincom class in the current semester.

How to Submit Your Film

A film submission sheet can be obtained from a Paratech in 3B.1, indicate the name of your film, the people credited on the Media Night Program among other important details. Along with this you will submit 2 copies of your film.

Playable DVD Copy:
This is a normal DVD copy (the kind you make to work in your home DVD player.) This is to be made in Toast with no menus and set to auto-play. This is a back-up DVD which we need in case we have a problem with your Data DVD.

Data DVD Copy:
This is a DVD with a copy of the Quicktime file you exported from Final Cut. (The same file you put onto your Playable DVD) This is also made in Toast.

Submission Suggestions

Make sure you follow the submission guidelines. Make sure that when you submit you have burnt both submission DVDs properly and filled out the submission sheet. (You can ask the Paratech on duty for help if you need help doing so.)

Get your film in on time. Every term there will be a deadline announced for Media Night submissions. This will be visible throughout the school on posters and may be announced by teachers. This due date is important, from that point on the Media Night staff will have just enough time to create and compile the show. If your submission is late there is no guarantee that it will be considered or accepted.
