Borrowing Policy

If you know you will be late ahead of time, advise the lab technician as soon as possible, either by phone or email (see above). If you do not advise the lab technician a late return can result in a suspension of borrowing privileges.

You must take care of the equipment you take out; it is your responsibility. Any lost, stolen or damaged equipment should be reported ASAP.

Reserving

Reservations can be made from Monday to that weeks Friday. No reservations will be taken a week in advance. Also, if you make a reservation, make sure that you pick it up. If you cannot (for any reason) pick-up your reserved equipment, contact the lab technician. Otherwise you will deprive other students of the use of the equipment and risk suspension of borrowing privileges.

Tapes and SD Cards

Along with Cameras, you will need the media on which they record. This means that with an HDC you will need and SD Card and with a DVX you will need a Panasonic tape. (SD Cards are also needed for voice recorders)

SD Cards: Whenever you rent an HDC or Voice Recorder (H4 or H2) you will be given one or more SD Cards on which to record your data. The loan of these chips lasts one day longer than the loan on the cameras so that you may off-load your footage to a computer or hard drive in the labs. (See paratechs for card readers or help.)

Panasonic Tapes: When you borrow a DVX you will need a tape to record your video. The school sells PANASONIC the tapes for $10, available when you borrow the camera. You are not to use any other brand of tapes in the cameras. Brands other than Panasonic are prone to failure in the DVX which will be neither good for the camera or your work.
